Cost of Labour

Minimum Wage: The national minimum wage in Hungary is HUF 322,800 (approx. EUR 847) gross per month (effective 1 January 2026), set by the Government of Hungary via decree under national labour law.
Average Wage: In December 2025, average gross earnings were at HUF 789,200 (approx. EUR 2,095).
Social Contributions: Social Security Contributions Paid By Employers: 13%
Social Security Contributions Paid By Employees: 18.5% (10% pension contribution and 8.5% health care and labour force contribution) without cap. An additional 6.5% health tax is payable on interest income and 14% health tax on capital gains.

Social Dialogue and Involvement of Social Partners: The law allows unions to conduct their activities without interference, and the Government protects this right. Collective bargaining is protected by law is freely practised. Approximately 40% of the workforce is covered by collective bargaining agreements (almost 3,000 collective bargaining agreements exist). Workers have the right to strike and occasionally exercise this right.
